Hernandez is a research assistant at the Silent Spring Institute, a nonprofit in Newton, Mass., dedicated to researching environmental contributors to cancer.
As a student, Hernandez was house president of McAfee Hall, served as a resident assistant, and was the appointed student representative to the College’s Academic Review Board and the Environmental Sustainability Committee. An environmental studies and geosciences major, she was selected as an Albright Institute Fellow in 2017. She also served as lab manager for Professor Dan Brabander’s environmental geochemistry lab, studying lead and other heavy metal exposure in urban ecosystems.
“I’m excited to be joining the Board of Trustees,” Hernandez says. “I’m looking forward to learning more about and reflecting on the challenges and opportunities facing the College. I hope to use my skills and experiences to engage in discussions and decisions, providing perspective on … the diverse needs of current and future students and alumnae.”
