On Sept. 19, big and little siblings gathered at Flower Sunday, Wellesley’s oldest tradition. “Flower Sunday has always been my favorite Wellesley tradition, especially my first year,” says Alexandra Brooks ’23, a political science major from Dallas. “When I was paired with my big, it helped give me a sense of belonging on campus. It was really nice to have someone to go to with questions and have someone to mentor me through my first year. I’ve had a new little every year since and stayed in contact with my little from last year, even meeting my ‘grandlittle’ this year.” Flower Sunday wasn’t entirely normal this year—it took place outside in the Haye Amphitheater instead of in the chapel, and students weren’t permitted to sing along with the choir. But it was still a festive, floral celebration of the ties between students.
