“I took this halfway through a run around Lake Waban. I was struck by the mix of reds, greens, and yellows in the leaves, and by the sun casting out swaths of light over the water. For me, this is an image of a campus in vibrant, colorful transition.”

This photo was taken “during last year’s class tree planting for the class of 2017 … in the style of American Gothic, with the famous tree planting spade. Tree planting reminds me of autumn; I love the juxtaposition of planting a legacy during a time when everything is changing. “The photo is from the view through the tiny rectangular window in the Islamic prayer room, located in the basement of the chapel. I was praying there when I looked up and saw how beautiful this looked so I took a picture of it. The two trees look as though they’re having a conversation: turned towards each other, the colorful one outreached to the green one as if it’s offering to lend a hand or invite it to become one with autumn too.”
