On Nov. 14, 2015, more than 450 Wellesley women came together in Manhattan to celebrate what journalist Lynn Sherr ’63 called “the perfect confluence of two of the most important things in all of our lives—having gone to Wellesley and living in NYC.” The event marked the 125th anniversary of the New York Wellesley Club and the local launch of the Campaign to advance the Wellesley Effect. Mayor Bill de Blasio declared the day “New York Wellesley Club Day” with a proclamation presented by NYC first lady, Chirlaine McCray ’76. Twenty-seven speakers represented Wellesley in all its diversity—class year, ethnicity, profession. Sherr interviewed Wellesley President H. Kim Bottomly about the future of the College.
