Wellesley offers alumnae the chance to travel the world through programs that extend the College’s intellectual community far beyond campus. In July 2025, for example, a group of alums and guests boarded the Diana, a 192-passenger expedition vessel, for a 10-night cruise along the coast of Norway and through its fjords. The journey began high above the Arctic Circle in Tromsø and concluded in Amsterdam. Claire Fontijn, Phyllis Henderson Carey Professor of Music, was aboard to offer talks on the music of Edvard Grieg, the paintings of Edvard Munch, and Norwegian folk music. Other 2025 journeys took alums to Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, southern Italy, Montenegro, Croatia, and Venice; the coastal cities of Western Europe; and Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca in Peru. The season will conclude with an expedition to Antarctica, embarking on Dec. 27 and led by Rachel Stanley, Frost Associate Professor of Environmental Science and associate professor of chemistry.
