At the end of May, just as this magazine is landing in your mailboxes, Wellesley will be celebrating commencement for our newest purple alumnae class, welcoming 1s, 6s, and Continuing Education/Davis Scholar alumnae back to campus for reunion, and concluding the College’s sesquicentennial. The 150th anniversary has been full of new connections, expanded engagement, and renewed commitment to Wellesley’s motto, Non Ministrari sed Ministrare. It has been a privilege to experience this year with alumnae across our clubs, classes, and shared identity groups.
The WCAA team sent more than 40 “tool kits” of 150th swag and decor to alumnae groups this year, and we loved seeing your event photos with pennants, bookmarks, and Wellesley pins as you brought the anniversary to life in your regions. The Wellesley community also completed 23,307 volunteer hours for the Sed Ministrare Service Challenge (as of late April when this issue went to print), and we encourage you to log your hours by May 31 (please include hours served from June 2025 through May 2026)! And together we celebrated events on campus and around the world to commemorate the 150th, including a very special gathering at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City on March 26.
The “Women Leading the Way” event featured a panel discussion moderated by Joey Cole ’99, vice president of planning at MS NOW, and led by President Paula A. Johnson, alongside three distinguished alums: Partners In Health co-founder Ophelia Dahl DS ’94, former NASA deputy administrator Pamela A. Melroy ’83, and playwright Mfoniso Udofia ’06. With more than 220 alums in attendance ranging from the class of 1955 to 2025, it was a remarkable evening of connection and conversation centered on women’s leadership. (See photos from the event on the opposite page.)
As we conclude anniversary celebrations and look forward to summer and the excitement of a new academic year (not to mention the arrival of the class of 2030!), I would like to extend my gratitude to the incredible WCAA Advisory Board, as three members conclude their service. Thank you to Dorothy Jones-Davis ’98, Briana Calleros ’12, and Angeles Garcia Cassin ’09 for their dedication to Wellesley and our alumnae community. And thank you to Stephanie Hull ’98 for her leadership in serving as interim president of the board for the coming year, in coordination with President Stephanie Hsieh ’89. We look forward to new WCAA board members joining us for the term beginning in July 2026, and we will introduce the new board members in a future issue of the magazine.
Thank you for joining us as we looked back on the past 150 years of Wellesley alumnae making a difference in their communities and the world, and as we look forward to all that lies ahead for this remarkable community and institution.
