This year marks an extraordinary chapter for our community as the Wellesley College Alumnae Association officially merges into the College. This transition, rooted in our shared commitment to Wellesley’s mission, reflects our determination to align more deeply in support of the College’s priorities while also enriching what makes our alumnae network so exceptional—our “special sauce.”
With a mission of furthering the interests of Wellesley College and its alumnae by connecting alumnae to the College and to each other, the WCAA has long been a source of support, inspiration, and connection for our alumnae to each other and to the broader Wellesley community. Only a few months into our integration into the College, I am excited by the spirit of collaboration all across campus as we collectively search for new and innovative ways to harness the power of the WCAA in furtherance of our common goals and aspirations. In this first year, we are embarking on an “opportunity audit”—listening, learning, acting together, and exploring ways to leverage our collective resources and expertise. As alums, we each represent and exemplify our motto, Non Ministrari sed Ministrare, to “make a difference in the world.”
Through the creation of the new division of global engagement, the College has created an innovative infrastructure and home within its organization for the WCAA. When we think about alumnae relations living at the intersection of nostalgia and innovation, we see tremendous opportunity to rise to this innovation challenge while continuing to honor the traditions that serve our network and deepen our impact—with both the College and each other.
Now just as much as ever, the importance and relevance of a Wellesley education cannot be understated. As we leverage the collective strengths of the entire Wellesley community to not only deepen engagement but also amplify and demonstrate to the world the power of being “One Wellesley,” I invite you to join us in thinking about what is it that shapes this amazing network into what is universally recognized as unique and to share with us what “Wellesley in the world” means to you.
