On Patriot’s Day, Central Street in front of the College was once again lined with students holding signs and screaming their support for Boston Marathon runners. Ella Warburg ’22 had an extra reason to be enthusiastic about the marathon this year—their mother, Shannon Hogan Warburg, was running the race. Shannon is an ultra runner and mountain biker by profession and has run the Boston Marathon many times. “This was my third time cheering her on and running with her through the Scream Tunnel,” says Ella, an environmental studies and women’s and gender studies double major from Mercer Island, Wash. (Ella is pictured below, holding the “Go Mom!” sign, running next to Shannon.) Ella is also an athlete—they competed on the College’s varsity golf team. “I have been so lucky to be a collegiate athlete and am grateful for my parents to help me get here,” they say. Ella hopes to run the Boston Marathon someday, too. “It has been on my bucket list for a long time!” they say.
