Susan Harmon ’67, of Seattle, has been nominated to serve a six-year term as alumnae trustee, from 2024 to 2030, succeeding Grace Toh ’83. In 2000, Harmon co-founded Public Radio Capital (now called Public Media Company), a nonprofit that works to broaden the reach of public media. She served as co-CEO until she retired in 2011. Harmon previously served as vice president at North Texas Public Broadcasting in Dallas/Fort Worth and as station manager at WAMU-FM in Washington, D.C., while also serving on the board of National Public Radio. “I have had a wonderful time working in an often hectic, diverse, and meaningful career where I have continued to learn and to connect with audiences. My liberal arts background from Wellesley was the education I needed for this,” Harmon says.
Harmon has volunteered for Wellesley in many capacities, including as an advisor on the development of the HIVE, as a HIVE mentor, reunion committee member, and class nominating committee chair. She has also been active for many years in Wellesley’s Business Leadership Council, including as board co-chair. Harmon received the Wellesley College Alumnae Association’s Sed Ministrare Volunteer Award in 2017. She currently serves on the boards of the Public Media Company, Classical KING in Seattle, and the Film Heritage Foundation Advisory Board in Mumbai.
