Elyse Cherry ’75, of Brookline, Mass., has been nominated to serve a six-year term as alumnae trustee, from 2020 to 2026, succeeding Lawry Jones Meister ’83.
Cherry is chief executive officer of BlueHub Capital, which is a nonprofit community-development organization that has invested more than $2 billion in underserved communities. Before joining BlueHub as CEO in 1997, she was a partner with the Boston law firm Hale and Dorr. Cherry has chaired the Massachusetts Cultural Council, has served on the boards of more than a dozen privately held companies, and is currently a trustee of Eastern Bank. The Financial Times and OUTstanding have named her one of the world’s top 100 LGBT executives.
Cherry received Wellesley’s highest honor, the Alumnae Achievement Award, in 2017. She is a member of Wellesley’s Business Leadership Council, recently serving as co-chair for the group’s 2019 plenary. A career mentor on the Wellesley Hive, she has also welcomed the College’s Lumpkin Interns to BlueHub. Cherry also serves on the Durant Committee for the class of ’75.
