Saving History

Thanks to Lisa Scanlon Mogolov ’99 for her informative article on the extraordinary “facade-ectomy” of the Science Center (“How to Save a Wall,” winter ’21). I don’t pretend to understand all of the architectural challenges encountered in the melding of old and new. But in this confusing time of “cancel culture,” it is gratifying to know that a piece of Wellesley’s past is being scrupulously retained for her future.

Walk On!

Walktober was Rock-tober for me (“Wellesley Walks,” winter ’21). As the step counter on my phone showed, Walktober rocketed up my steps to over 10,000 a day, and walking and talking with my classmate Sarah Donelson has kept me going since then. Thank you for mentioning it in the most recent magazine. I hope Walktober continues.

Remembering Alice Birmingham Robinson ’46

I remember Mrs. Robinson—especially her periodic showings of The Six Wives of Henry VIII—with great fondness (“In Memoriam,” winter ’21). It was she who supervised my independent study (History 350) and her guidance and insight made the final product better. The commemorative plate depicting Hazard Quad, where I lived senior year, and which she gave me after I graduated, is a treasured possession.
